Well, it has been a week since I have been back in the UK. I would dare to say that I am almost over the jet lag. My first week back at work was rough. I had to suffer through 12hr shifts on top of the jet lag. The Southwest Tour 2006 was well worth it. Two weeks of blazing through the Southwest, starting in California and ending up in Texas. It all started with a phone call from a friend of mine, Victor.
"I'm getting married on Feb. 4th and I would like you to be in it."
Victor and I go way back, so there was no way in hell I could not be there for him. Since I was going to have to travel from the UK back to the States, I decided to make quite the road trip out of it. Why would I want to spend 20hrs of travel time for just a weekend?
The planning started early. I would hit California and work my way towards San Antonio over a two week period. I knew enough people in between L.A. and S.A. to make stops at several cities along the way. The original plan was LA -> Vegas -> Phoenix -> Albuquerque -> San Antonio -> Corpus Christi. Vegas was cut out early on and substituted with San Francisco. Most of my family resides in the Bay Area so that was an easy decision. Corpus Christi was on the agenda up until the very end, but I was just never able to fit in a trip down there. The week I was in San Antonio it was hectic with all kinds of stuff going on. I was glad to be there with Victor to help him maintain his sanity as Feb. 4th drew near.
