Vista Forced Down Your Throat

Read a column in the latest issue of PC Magazine today entitled, "The Vista Supremacy" by Lance Ulanoff. Mr. Ulanoff states, "[...] consumers are wondering if Vista is right for them. The truth is that they really have no choice. Vista will succeed, have all of Microsoft's previous operating systesms."

He is kind of right. When he states that "[consumers] have no choice" he has underestimated the power of Linux. If you order a computer from a major computer vendor, odds are that you will get Vista pre-loaded onto it. No choice. The only choice you will get is whether or not you want Business Vista, Home Vista, or Ultimate Vista. A lot of consumers don't even know that they have a choice or that YES, THERE IS A CHOICE!! Most of them will prefer Windows anyways because that is all that they have been accustomed to. Oh well. Some are hopelessly lost forever.

He also goes on to say in his column, "[...] some tech geeks lined up at retail stores at midnight on January 30[th] to buy the very first copies of the new OS [...]." Good for them. I would hardly call the people buying Vista tech geeks. Your mom and probably grandma can operate Windows (which is a good thing and one of the reasons why Windows has been a success). Hardcore geeks know that there is a choice and are foaming at the mouth to get their hands on Vista. They've already hacked it.
